Ausangate Trek!

The inspiring Cordillera de Vilcanota Located in the southern part of Peru is remarkable mountain ranges which include the massive Nevado de Ausangate (6.372m/20900ft). It's a large place to trek that takes you over mountain passes, awesome mountain scenery, remote Andean villages, Natural hot springs, turquoise lakes, glaciers, herds of llamas and alpacas, etc. This is an unforgettable hike recommended for lovers of mountain trekking searching for an intense experience in remote areas and wild live, picturesque villages and traditionally dressed Indians.

Itinerary!

Ausangate trekDay 1: Cusco – Pitumarka – Chilca.

In the morning we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and transfer you in our private transport toChilca. We pass through picturesque villages, agricultural fields This journey will last for aproximately 6 hours include stops along the trip at some local markets. Arriving to chilca we will set up the camp site.

Day 2: Chilca to Hampa.

After have a energetic and delicious breakfast we will start the trek going up toward the ancient farming area of Finaya where people live herding their llamas and alpacas. We will see native crops and visit a friendly family. Later, we will take a short walk to reach our campsite at Hampa community. Today we will trek for 8 hours, rest breaks included.

Ausangate tourDay 3: Hampa to Pacchanta

Today the trail climbs up to Hampa Pass which is the last pass of our trek before we descend through the ancient Moraine and rocky which is also a habitat for mountain Chinchillas (Andean rabbits). We continue the trek amidst beautiful lagoons until we arrive at our campsite located in a colorful countryside community where people live in harmony with nature. At this place there are natural hot springs where you can deservedly relax your muscles after this challenging trek. we will trek for 8 hours, rest breaks included.

Day 4: Pacchanta - Tinqui - Cusco

We leave our campsite early and continue towards T'inki. Laterwe continue downhill through a beautiful agricultural pasture where we will see native crops like potatoes, oxalis, beans, and quinua. The trail descends, passing pastures and several communities of friendly people who will greet you in their native language, Quechua. At T'inki, the bus will be waiting for us to return to Cusco and transfer you to your hotel we will arrive in the afternoon.

What is included?

  • Transportation.- Private bus Cusco- Chilca (starting point of the trek) and T´inki-Cusco (transfer to your hotel).
  • Guide.- English speaking guide (2 guides for groups over 8 people).
  • Meals.- 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners, Drinking water to refill your bottle during the trek

  • Camping equipments.- We provide four people capacity tent for two persons, brand new four season tents, Therm-a-rest, dinning room tent, kitchen tent, toiled tent, seats, tables, tent for Guides and porters, kitchen gears,
  • Horses.- For camping equipment, food and kitchen gears as well to carry your personal items (7kls per person) in duffel bags that Sunrise provide. Muleteers.

Important!

We Recommend that you Bring:

  • Sleeping bag (you can rent at SUNRISE office).
  • Bottle of mineral water.
  • Rain gear and/or plastic poncho (can be purchase in Cusco).
  • Hiking boots.
  • Warm jacket or fleece, t-shirts, shorts, long pants, sun hat and wool hat.
  • Flashlight.
  • Sun block.
  • Insect repellent.
  • Toilet paper and garbage bag.
  • Small towel and bathing suit (hot springs optional).
  • Camera, extra film and extra batteries.
  • Snacks, chocolates, energy bars.
  • Emergency money.
  • Walking stick (optional).

Payment Details:

We require a non-refundable trek deposit of US$150 per person. The deposit can be sent by a WESTERN UNION or to our BANK ACCOUNT money transfer. This is the fastest and most secure form of payment in Peru. The money transfer should be in the name of SUNRISE EXPEDITIONS TOUR OPERATOR E.I.R.L. Once you arrive in Cusco you must pay the remaining balance in cash prior to beginning your tour. We accept both US Dollars and Peruvian Soles (local currency).

Important.

The night before your trek there will be a pre-trek talk (briefing) in our office or in your hotel at either 6 or 7pm (exact time will be confirmed on arrival to Cusco).
