This trek is organized for people who prefer to spend less time camping but still want to feel the charm of the Andes with its splendid landscape combining nature and history. On this trek you will visit Huchuy Qosqo, a popular Inca town built in the highest part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It was the great palace of Inca Viracocha (father of Inca Pachacutec, one of the most important kings in the Inca empire), who lived in this splendid place after he retired from his kingdom.

Itinerary:

Day 1.- Cusco – Tambomachay – Pucamarka.- We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 am and transfer you to Tambomachay (3800masl), an Incan temple dedicated to the water cult. From here we will start hiking, through Puna landscapes and over the Sicllaccasa pass at 4020 meters above sea level. We will hike along the trail that leads to the Ccauca ravine, from where we will admire archaeological remains and native crops, such as potatoes, oxalis, quinua, etc. Continuing the trek we will reach the Queullocccocha pass (4185 meters), where we will enjoy views of the lake with the same name and snowcapped mountains such as Veronica, Pitusiray, Sawasiray and Chicon. We continue the trek, passing the Queullococha lake, where we will see Huallatas, wild ducks, and small fishes. We then climb up towards the Challu challu pass at 4220 meters. From this point we will observe the Incan terraces at Chginchero, Piuray and the Qoricocha lagoons. Then we will ascend towards the fourth pass at Rumicruz (4230 meters), and enjoy the Vilcanota mountain range. At this point we will have lunch before continuing to the Inca stone quarry at 4220 meters, the place where the rocks were extracted to build Huchuy Qosqo. Finally we will descend towards the Pucamarca community at 4010 meters where we will set up camp and enjoy our dinner.

Day 2.- Pucamarka – HUCHUY QOSQO – Lamay -  We leave the campsite and walk towards the Leon Punku ravine, where we will find remains of an Inca bridge, a trail and Huchuy qosqo (at 3600 meters), an important center in the time of the Incas. From this place we will be able to admire the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the sacred river. Once we arrive at Huchuy Qosqo, we will have a guided tour by our experienced guide, until lunch time. Then, we will continue the trek to Lamay at 3000 meters. Lamay is a village dedicated to agriculture and livestock. In the area we will have time to take a bath and relax in the natural hot springs. Late in the afternoon a bus will pick us up and drive us back to Cusco arriving there in the evening.
