Day1: CUSCO-Mollepata-Soraypampa.
We will leave Cusco at approximatelly, 5:30 am to take a bus to MOLLEPATA (this is the beginning of the trek). It will takes about 3 hours, after which we will meet our horses. We then walk up for around 3 more hours to CRUZ PATA to have lunch a one hour rest break and then , we start walking again to SORAYPAMPA (3.850 M.A..S.L) .In this part of the trail, we are going to see, the first HUMANTAY snow capped mountain. After we will arrive at our first campsite at 5:30 pm where our porters will be waiting with some hot tea, and later, our dinner (the first campsite is the coldest).
Day2: Soraypampa-Chaullay.
After having a good breakfast and leaving at aprox 6:30 am, we will climb up for four hours to the firstpass of the SALKANTAY mountain, over 4.540 m.a.s.l., making it the highest point. We stop for around 25 minutes to take group pictures, because from here we will have great views of range of the mountains and we will find some stone hesps (Apachayta) around this pass. After this, we will trek downward for 4 hours through a nice trail to Chaullay, (which is lower than our first campsite at 2.900 m.a.s.l) where we have our tea time and dinner.
Day 3: Chaullay-La Playa (Sawayaco) - Santa Teresa.
We leave from Chaullay early after finishing breakfast at aprox 7.00 am. we will pass through COLLCAPAMPA. In this part of the trek, we will walk on a narrow trail on the mountainside, cross some species of orchids, different kinds of plants, some cornfields, fruit fields and we will have the opportunity to see the most beautiful waterfall on the trail. This will take about 5 hours. Finally we will get to LA PLAYA place, and take a 45 minute truck ride to the town of SANTA TERESA (1.645m.s.a.l) .We will arrive there at about 1:00 pm to set up our tents. We can also go to the medicinal hot springs waters which are only 45 minutes from Santa Teresa.
Day 4: Santa Teresa-Hidroelectrica-Aguas Calientes.
We get up early in the morning, and after breakfast, begin walking for aprox. 3 hours to get theUrubamba river. After this spectacular experience we keep going for 2 more hours to a small village with a hydroelectric power station and a train station. Here, we can see many kinds of fruits, trees and plants. After lunch we will continue trekking until we arrive at Aguas Calientes where we spend the night in a hostal.
Day 5: Aguas Calientes-Machu Picchu-Cusco.-
We have to get up very early in the morning at aprox.4:30 am to have breakfast and then we'll continue trek to the Archeological Site of Machu Picchu, Once at Machu Picchu, the tour guide will explain the meanings , importance and story of Machu Picchu while we tour the city. The tour will take about 2 hours. After the tour, you have the option to climb up to the Huayna Picchu Mountain, enjoying all of Machu Picchu. Afterwards, we will take a bus down to Aguas Calientes and we catch the train back to Cusco.
